Christmas Jars Story: 'We praise the Lord that there are generous people in this world'

Springfield, MO:

We have been mentoring a young single mother for a year. She has completed a semester in college and hopes to become an LPN. She spent most of her life in foster care but her biological family is constantly adding stress and even danger to her life. These family members are vindictive and have been known to vandalize to get back at people. So when the door bell rang and no one was at the door we were concerned. My husband watched from a bedroom window and saw someone sneak back up on our porch. He then turned on the light, opened the door, and yelled, "What are you doing." A young girl screamed and ran away.

Then we realized there was a jar of money on the porch. At first we thought we had scared someone who was collecting money. Then we realized that the money was for our young single mother.

Thank you so much. We are sorry that we scared the donor. The young mother had dental surgery this week and her vehicle died. We help her manage her finances and she gets along on very little. Thank you for choosing to give your Christmas jar to our friend but we're so sorry that we scared you. We praise the Lord that there are generous people in this world.
