Cedar Park, TX:
My husband and I heard about Christmas Jars last year. We started one immediately. This year we found it was getting close to Christmas and we hadn't found anyone to give the jar to. We decided I would contact my church to see if there was anyone who could help us find someone. They told us of a single mom and grandmother whom despite their best efforts had some challenges this past year. Even when times were difficult the mom still thought of others and volunteered at church. They got their jar at midnight Christmas Eve.
In the meantime, we thought of someone else we knew who could also use a Christmas Jar. He and his wife had twins this past year and dispite his two jobs they could not afford baby formula. We had forgotten about the change we had collected the year before that was hidden away. We pulled it out and it filled another jar. We arranged for someone to give them the Christmas Jar and keep our secret.
We have already started another Christmas Jar and hope to fill two again next year.
